San Miguel Yamamura Australasia (SMYA) is an established leader in packaging and contract wine filling in Australia and New Zealand. We started as Cospak Pty Ltd over 40 years ago and today the company is a joint venture between two packaging leaders, San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines and Nihon Yamamura Glass of Japan. SMYA is headquartered in Sydney and is present in all the major states across Australia and in Auckland, New Zealand.

SMYA, a collective packaging specialist is composed of the synergies between:

  • SANECTOR (contract beverage bottling, packaging & distribution)

We are actively seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to be based at our SANECTOR site in Cheltenham (VIC) to service our contract beverage filling sites nationally.

Reporting to the General Manager | Human Resources, and overseeing the SANECTOR portfolio, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing end-to-end generalist HR services within the bottling stream of the SMYA Group;
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with all Leaders and gain an understanding of their business and human resource needs;
  • Supporting employees and managers in addressing workplace relations issues and requests for support;
  • Supporting employee engagement and culture through the provision of specialist employment relations advice to employees and management;
  • Support training and development initiatives across all levels of the business units;
  • Oversee onsite WHS matters including RTW coordination and management (experience desired, not essential);
  • Generalist HR activities as directed.

Experience & Attributes Required:

  • Minimum five (5) years commercial experience in a multi-site environment in Australia;
  • Previous experience within the wine or bottling industries would be highly regarded;
  • Relevant qualification in Human Resources (or a related field), and/or equivalent experience;
  • Flexibility to travel within Australia as required.
  • Demonstrated HR generalist knowledge with experience in industrial relations practices and processes;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, advise and apply the relevant industrial instruments in the workplace (Wine Industry Award 2020 in particular);
  • Experience in advising and leading cultural change programs;
  • Good understanding of WHS process, including RTW (desired);
  • The ability to act quickly in fast-paced and dynamic environments;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide pro-active advice and support to the managers, particularly on performance matters;
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and judgment in resolving problems;
  • High level communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with and influence key stakeholders;
  • Excellent written skills with strong attention to detail – e.g. policy development, documents for external jurisdictions; contract preparation and performance management documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
