Little Grasshoppers Early Learning Centre is searching for an HR professional to join our family owned and operated business with more than 30 years of experience within the childcare sector. About the role

This is a true standalone position. Working across Mornington, Mt Eliza, Moorooduc and Somerville, you will be primarily working out of our head office in Somerville where you can make your mark on achieving positive people related results with our 100 – 130 staffing cohort. You will be working across our five sites on the Mornington Peninsula where you will be supporting our centre managers whilst focusing on attraction and retention of staff.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving the owner’s visions for a professional and high standard of values that separate us from our competitors. 
  • Continual efforts to maintain and strengthen overall staffing culture to make each environment the best it can be. 
  • Active role in recruitment. Advertise for roles and conduct Interviews  
  • Onboarding of staff, including the entire employee life cycle
  • Manage and co-ordinate staff performance reviews
  • Manage disciplinary issues
  • Ensure grievances, complaints and employee relations matters are handled promptly and sensitively
  • Assist in staff rosters and the day-to-day scheduling of staff
  • Manage any workplace injuries and associated paperwork
  • Undertake investigations and case management activities as required and in line with policies and best practice
  • Organise annual staff events (Christmas party, morning teas, lunches)
  • Manage and coordinate our yearly employee engagement survey and assist in the implementation of desired change/outcomes
  • Manage Staff Uniforms
  • Create a monthly staff newsletter 
  • Keep all employee records up to date
  • Oversee the paperwork for all trainees and keep abreast of changes to Government funding and incentive schemes

Skills & experience

  • Degree qualified in Human Resources or a relevant discipline 
  • Demonstrated experienced in the management of a broad range of employee relations matters
  • Mediation and grievance resolution skills
  • Industrial Relations experience and an ability to understand and interpret modern awards
  • Skilled in building good working relationships across our frontline essential workers and Management team
  • Thrives when able to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Team player, approachable and genuine
  • Agile and adaptable, with an ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Creative problem solver
  • Resilient with good attention to detail
  • Computer literacy with proficient use of Microsoft office software applications
