About the Role

Calling all administrative gurus with a keen analytical mind and excellent writing skills!

A key function of the College is the accreditation of hospitals across Australia and New Zealand to enable them to be part of the College’s training program for doctors completing specialist qualifications in Emergency Medicine.

This is an exciting opportunity to go behind the scenes and understand how Australasian Emergency Departments operate. It is also an opportunity to influence how the next generations of Emergency Medicine Specialists are trained to ensure our communities will be better served.

The Accreditation Unit manages the accreditation and inspection of around 160 hospitals and other medical sites across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.  The Accreditation Unit has a clear focus to ensure that the services involved in the delivery of the training program have the right staff, skillsets, culture and resources to ensure a quality experience for our specialists in training. The Accreditation Unit team is part of the Training Department and has very significant interaction with other units in that department.

The Accreditation Officer is an integral part of the Accreditation Unit team that facilitates the smooth running and delivery of the accreditation process.

This role involves, but not limited to:

  • Attending and participating in Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand hospital accreditation inspections (onsite or virtual), as required, and drafting the inspection reports. 
  • Assisting in the Accreditation Unit’s daily administrative tasks.
  • Contributing to ongoing initiatives and policies for accreditation.

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • Strong report writing, word processing, planning and time management skills.
  • A flair for data collation and analysis. 
  • Ability to think outside the box in a complex compliance environment
  • A keen eye for detail and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise with medical specialists, hospital executives and trainees for accreditation matters.
