About the role
A newly created and rare opportunity is now available for a Tax Manager – International Tax and Transfer Pricing to join Santos. Reporting to the Head of Tax in Adelaide you will be responsible for providing International Tax support to the group and lead transfer pricing from a Group Tax perspective.

As a Tax Manager at Santos, you will be supported by the broader tax team. This role will have primary responsibility for delivery of high-quality technical advice and support for the group’s reporting obligations for international tax and transfer pricing purposes. 

You will be expected to provide advice to the business in relation to a range of international tax matters, including the provision of training and support for other functions in the business as required. You will also be expected to liaise with revenue authorities and other external stakeholders, including providing support for the management of tax audits and assurance reviews.

Accountabilities are delivered in-line with the Santos company values. Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsibility for overseeing the preparation of annual transfer pricing reporting and documentation.
  • Organising monthly and annual tax filings for foreign operations in conjunction with tax team and in-country external tax advisers
  • Managing and reviewing international components of the Australian income tax returns
  • Supervising transfer pricing and other international tax related audits across the Group
  • Identifying and responding to business changes and initiatives with advice on international tax and transfer pricing implications.
  • Assisting with M&A activity, due diligence, legal entity rationalisations and financing projects.
  • Providing timely advice on changes in tax laws in Australia and for foreign operations as required.
About you
The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary/degree qualifications in either Accounting, Law, Business or similar, including CA, CPA and/or Masters of Tax. You will have demonstrated and relatable leadership experience in a top or mid-tier accounting practice in taxation or in a similar commercial role for a large organisation coupled with a deep understanding of international tax, transfer pricing, taxation administration and tax governance. 

This position will suit a proactive, results driven professional who demonstrates strong leadership qualities with an ability to develop and mentor staff. To be successful in this role you will bring your experience in proactive identification and mitigation of tax and transfer pricing risks as well as an ability to make practical and commercial recommendations and to work with all parts of the business to drive through implementation of those ideas.
