WorkCon a labour hire & recruitment business specialising in the construction and civil industries is looking for a payroll officer who enjoys a challenge, is a fast learner, and has a great eye-for-detail. This role will form apart of the current administration and payroll team who are responsible for running a weekly payroll of 200+ people in a growing market.

This role provides you the opportunity to work in a family-owned, values-driven business who has strong employee tenure. You will be supported and guided to ensure you are a long-term and successful member of the business.

A typical week will involve

  • Being part of a team who processes 200+ end-to-end weekly wages (fulltime and casual staff)
  • Calculating leave accruals, terminations, redundancies, and all employee allowances
  • Reconciliation and lodgement of superannuation and statutory obligations including PAYG, Payroll Tax, WorkCover, Child support
  • Review and update payroll processes and procedures to ensure the payroll department is working efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Understanding the awards and EBA relevant to the organisation
  • Set-up and maintenance of employee records
  • Answer team members questions relating to payroll
  • Administration duties / reporting
  • Ad Hoc Tasks as Required

What you need to succeed in this role

  • We are open to beginners or someone with experience, ideally 1+ years of experience in a similar role (payroll/administration role)
  • A proven record of completing payroll accurately and on time
  • Skills MYOB / Xero / WorkforceOne
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel, Outlook and Access skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills and a high standard work
  • You will be organised and efficient, manage competing priorities, and double-check your own work
  • Self-motivation and ability to work effectively on your own or with a team
  • A friendly and collaborative working style is essential
  • Experience and skills in payroll processing for a labour hire or recruitment company will be highly regarded
  • Although no tertiary qualifications are necessary, a Certificate IV in Payroll Administration would be highly regarded
  • Experience with invoicing
