Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent charity that provides support to seriously ill or injured children, high risk expectant mothers’ and their families. RMHC South East Queensland is one of the many Ronald McDonald House “Chapters” within Australia and Globally. RMHC provides accommodation and other support programs for vulnerable families during the most challenging time in their lives. Our services operate 24/7 across all 365 days of the year. We are seeking to fill the new role of Community Fundraising officer within our growing Fundraising team. 

As an important role in the Fundraising team this position will contribute to the team effort in the delivery of event and community fundraising initiatives and cultivating meaningful relationships with donors to facilitate long-lasting partnerships. This role and the team are integral to ensuring that RMHC SEQ is able to continue their support of seriously ill children and their families.

Collaborating with others, this role will ensure the successful delivery of RMHC SEQ’s major & minor events including the Red Boot Hoot and Red Boot Race Day. Tasks include meeting with committees and event agencies on a regular basis to ensure that events are successful in both budgets and logistics, including sourcing event prizes. This include organising our wonderful band of event volunteers as required.

The successful candidate will be a committed, authentic, respectful and empathetic individual with a strong commitment to teamwork whilst delivering on key outcome targets. Holding an open driver’s license will be important and having or working towards First Aid/CPR qualifications advantageous.

Primarily based at our Herston House there is a requirement to work across all our facilities and at off site events or functions. Able to work from home and flexibly as agreed. There will be a need to be flexible with working hours and days (occasional weekend/evening work) to support and manage operational requirements within the Fundraising department.

 Requirements of the Role – Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Passionate and confident with a good attention to detail
  2. Some experience in supporting events
  3. Ability to grow community engagement and help to grow community fundraising 3rd party events, including sports clubs and community groups
  4. Confidence to speak with stakeholders and seek support
  5. Ability to work on competing priorities and multiple tasks
  6. Experience with creating/maintaining a budget for an event
  7. Experience in working with IT software of various types, Salesforce experience would be an advantage
  8. Enjoys problem solving and finding solutions
  9. Excellent verbal and written skills
  10. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a close-knit team and bring a sense of fun
