About the role 

Decent Care is seeking a permanent full-time qualified Accountant to join our dynamic team. The accountant will lead the finance team daily in terms of their various responsibilities including the preparation of financial accounts and reconciliations, month-end closure and variance analysis and budget preparation. The accountant will support various functions within the organisation such as Plan Management, Payroll and Business Solutions.


Job tasks and responsibilities 

  • Attend to financial operations including financial accounting, transaction processing, financial management reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and present financial reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, operating results, cash flow forecast and management reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with the NDIS and the other relevant Delegation of Authority with respect to all financial processes.
  • Ensure month-end accounting processes are managed and deadlines are met.
  • Preparation of detailed financial analysis of business and project performance for Board reporting.
  • Liaise with operational staff in relation to administrative and bookkeeping input into the financial processes and provide training and support, as required.
  • Managing and monitoring a participant’s budget in accordance with the plan management service agreement for the duration of the NDIS plan.
  • Managing the NDIS claims and disbursing funds to providers for delivered services.
  • Coordinating between NDIS and NDIS Providers in resolving day-to-day administrative issues. 
  • Set up, process, and manage the payroll operation and Single Touch Payroll reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and strategic planning.
  • Prepare and administer periodic returns & related compliance matters for GST, PAYG Withholding, PAYG Instalments and payroll tax.
  • Manage audit and tax activities, liaising with external accountants and auditors as required.
  • Manage internal and external accounting activities and ensure accounting initiatives and management actions are implemented within the agreed timeframes.
  • Preparing Policies and Procedures and general business correspondence


Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in computerised accountancy systems. Experience with XERO Advanced is desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Recognised professional qualification in accountancy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with team members at all levels.
  • Experience in a CA or CPA Accounting firm can be advantageous.
  • You must be an Australian Citizen/Permanent resident or have proper working rights in Australia. 


Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 plus superannuation
