Bookkeeper/Payroll Team Leader
Whatever job you’re doing right now isn’t ticking all your boxes, is it? For what other reason would you be on Seek? Maybe you have hit a career roadblock or, perhaps, you just don’t want to lose hours a week traipsing into the CBD anymore.
We hope you find that position that will ‘tick all your boxes’. We get it. We wrote this add because we want to find a person to develop the bookkeeping arm of our business who ticks all our boxes too – and maybe it’s you.
Most recruitment ads are the same. They don’t tell you much about what you might actually be getting yourself into were you to be successful. Not this advertisement. We are going to let you know what exciting challenges this role involves. When you finish reading you may feel challenged, afraid or both – but we hope you will know if this role is right for you.
If you’re reading this and you’re thinking “I’ll just put my resume in and apply because it could be good, and I need a job” we strongly suggest that you find something else to apply for because we don’t do indifferent here; ‘you gotta own this role’.
Also, with this one there’s a little something we need you to do for us when you apply, so it’s not just a quick click on “Apply Now”. More on this at the end of the ad.
What’s in it for you
This part is always missing in job ad’s, isn’t it? Other than words like “Great opportunity” there isn’t often much for candidates about why this role might be the perfect role for them. So, we added it in.
We know it’s difficult to find great people to join the team so we want to make it really clear what we’re offering (because we will also be making it really clear what we’re asking for later in the ad).
We also know that it’s equally difficult for good candidates to find a job they love; to work in a team where you are genuinely valued, where there’s no office politics and you get a chance to put your strengths to work each day which is why our culture is a big part of what makes this role an attractive one.
Curve Accountants has been providing services to the medical profession for over twenty five years. The bookkeeping arm of the business is relatively immature but is poised for rapid growth as we seek to service an existing, absolute blue chip client base.
As the first dedicated hire into the bookkeeping team, the successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the future of the business and, consequently, their own career.
This role will offer a chance to work closely with the Directors, Bez and Sean, in developing a first rate bookkeeping team that, in turn, will help our clients achieve their own goals and have more time with their families.
As the leader of the bookkeeping team, you will be involved in everything as the business grows. You will help shape the systems and processes so a cohesive, well-oiled machine is in place ready for other team members to join as growth allows.
This is a full-time role and you’ll be based in our amazing new offices at the Morris Moor development located at 1 Cochranes Road, Moorabbin. Our space has been designed specifically for our requirements and to allow for the growth we have planned.
The building was redeveloped three years ago, and is light, modern and filled with more greenery than a national park. Onsite parking is available and the business precinct contains restaurants, bakery, yoga studio, gym, child care and a brewery – with more businesses to come (hot tip is a roof top wine bar soon).
Your salary will be competitive and commensurate with the experience, value, and enthusiasm you’re bringing to the role.
Curve Accountants & Wealth is a ‘fee for service’ accounting and financial services firm that has been specialising in the medical profession, Australia wide, for over 25 years.
We see our role as looking after the health workers in our community by taking the burden of worry and uncertainty surrounding finance off their shoulders. Assured that we have got everything covered they can get on with doing what they know best – looking after peoples’ health.
Our longevity and client referrals tell us we are doing a good job and that makes us feel great.
The professional and administration team are a polite, friendly, diverse, and approachable group who are happy to roll up their sleeves and help each other with their own unique skills and knowledge.
But for now, enough about us, it’s time to talk about you.
Of course, you will already have experience working in a bookkeeping and payroll – preferably in a supervisory role. However, years of experience will matter for less than the following demonstrable skills.
- You’ve a good sense of humour and your positivity makes a work place all the better.
- You communicate unbelievably well in person and in writing.
- You are a professional problem solver with a generous dose of common sense.
- You are all about helping the team achieve – no task is too small.
- You get a real sense of satisfaction out of ticking things off to-do lists with nothing slipping through the cracks
- Inefficiency annoys you and you will stop at nothing to find a better way to do things
- You are not afraid to give the Directors honest feedback when required (nicely).
About the Role
We get that this role is not just “Bookkeeping/Payroll Team Leader”. We know that finding a great Team Leader is the missing piece of the puzzle to make this business really fly. Your work will allow the accountants to spend more time with clients, operate more effectively and make this business really grow. By aiding us scale the bookkeeping department you will, in turn, help many more deserving clients access our services and, in doing so, achieve greater peace of mind. So, you really will be making an impact on a network of people and their families.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Provide exceptional client service
- Attend client meetings on site and in our office
- Implementing recommendations made by the accountants
- Maintain client records in accordance with compliance requirements
- Manage team workflows
- Assist in producing client correspondence and reports
- Actively participate in the business process improvements of the firm
- Work with the Directors to identify, hire and train future team members.
HOW TO APPLY
Because one of the things we’re looking for in the successful candidate is attention to detail and the kind of person who reads everything before they take action (assumptions always end in tears) we’re not going to be accepting applications from anyone who just hits ‘apply now’ here on Seek or who just sends us a resume and cover letter by email.
We’d really like you to go to our website and get a feel for the people you might meet working at Curve. Once you have done this then please call our office to tell us a little about yourself and why you’re the perfect person for this role. The number is 9588 9000 and ask for Alix Dower. Following the call please then email us your resume and cover letter to [email protected]
Thank you in advance for taking the time to apply, we’re genuinely looking forward to learning more about you. We’ll accept applications until midnight 3 August 2022 when this position will close.
