McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government’s ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.
We are currently seeking applications from proactive and organised administrators with experience in all activities of cost administration. This is a permanent, full-time position located on site in Narre Warren. This role will operate in a fast-paced environment, where you will be required to manage a high-volume workload and draw upon your experience working in a construction context to ensure key deadlines are met. You will be working in a team environment on site and will be required to develop strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.  Furthermore, you will:
  • Ensure efficient and timely recording of all financial commitments and maintaining the cost accounting system 
  • Provide timely cost reports to management 
  • Operate the McConnell Dowell cost system (Workbench) for the Alliance and ensure all orders (commitments) are completed correctly 
  • Collate and maintain docket and timekeeping registers 
  • Check invoices against orders and delivery dockets and prepare for certification 
  • Administration of sub-contract agreements and supporting the contracts admin team as required 
  • Experience working in a similar administration role with a focus on cost / finance administration 
  • Proactively manage cost administration workflows, to ensure all aspects are completed within the required timeframes 
  • Sound numeracy skills, analytical and resourceful in solving problems 
  • Eye for detail and the ability to identify errors or omissions 
  • Clear verbal and written communication 
  • Work well in both in a team or independently
