Our FinOps Department is looking for a Financial Analyst (full-time) to join the team in Yatala, QLD.

The Opportunity:

We recognise that this role and Ritchie Bros. financial operations are quite unique from other organisations, so while having direct industry experience is not important – strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, values alignment, and the right attitude will be absolutely essential to making this position a success.

The Financial Analyst is accountable for producing high quality reconciliations for SOX controls compliance and Financial Reporting of Financial Operations. The responsibility includes balancing of several key balance sheet accounts and preparing the month-end working papers, including but not limited to Auction proceeds, Inventory, Advances, Holdbacks and Recoverable Expenses.

Responsibilities include:

  • Month-end duties include preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies – identify source of discrepancy and corresponding correction
  • Review and preparation of inventory workbooks – including contract agreement, purchase allocations, journal entries for inventory sold and liabilities.
  • Prepare reconciliation of Accounts Payable Proceeds (APP) to GL for payout and month end
  • Ensure coding is accurate and uploaded correctly
  • Manage the inventory balance sheet account and work closely with Operations to ensure all assets are selling and performance is reported on a regular cadence
  • Produce weekly and follow-up reports such as post-sale checklists and payout stats
  • Liaison between internal stakeholders, implementing change, efficiency gains and enhancing the Seller experience through accurate reporting and leveraging KPI data
  • Point of contact for auditors – prepare and submit samples to auditors according to requirements
  • Lead, train, and handle accounting related escalations as expert in Seller Services operation
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Here’s what you bring:

  • 3+ years demonstrated experience in an operational accounting department coupled with an accounting degree or equivalent (designated CPA or senior-level CPA student preferred)
  • Flexible approach, and the ability to adapt to changing processes and/or priorities in a reactive working environment
  • Strong technological capabilities, in this role you will be expected to work proficiently with various systems and reporting tools
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with an approachable and helpful workstyle
  • Strong interpersonal skills, someone who embraces open and transparent communication
