Reporting to the Team Leader Financial Services, you will administer the Accounts Payable function by ensuring processing and payment of invoices daily, whilst adhering to Council’s Procurement Policies. In addition, at peak times you may support the team within the payroll function.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Processing of accounts payable and distribution of invoices daily
  • Generation of weekly EFT payments
  • Ensuring purchase orders are correctly allocated and in place
  • Reconciliation of all creditor statements each month end
  • Generation of one-off cheque payments where required
  • Extracting data from Council’s Corporate Credit Card system
  • Maintain the prepayments register
  • Creation and processing of various journals


To be successful you will have at least 2 years relevant experience in a similar role, a sound knowledge of accounts payable, purchasing functions and current GST legislation and be versed in electronic paperless invoice processing and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

Formal qualifications are essential, Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (minimum), together with well-developed written and verbal communication, sound computer skills in MS Office and accurate high-volume data entry in accounting software.
