Teneo is Australia’s leading environmental containment specialists, with over 40 years’ experience developing and implementing quality solutions for the waste, oil and gas, mining, and water industries. We specialise in providing clients a complete containment solution with the in-house capability and equipment to deliver earthworks, civil construction, project management and geomembrane supply and installation.

The Group Accountant is a brand-new role, reporting directly to the CFO, that will take leadership of all financial functions for the group. We are looking for a hands-on Group Accountant who can step into a business that is seeing year on year growth and has the experience and understanding to manage multiple projects nationally in the $50-$100 million ranges.

You should be a strong technical leader who can turn challenges into opportunities. You will thrive on rapidly gaining the confidence of the business and our stakeholders as we define the ideal structures and processes for Teneo Group.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong financial management leadership in a similar construction, contracting, or project management business.
  • Demonstrated experience leading reporting, reviews, and audit processes.
  • A systems and process mindset, with an ability to visualize and align varying systems to deliver singular results.
  • Experience in the implementation of accounting standards and/or changes to a business.
  • An energetic professional who can step into a role, review the situation, gain confidence, and build a plan to continue delivering with speed.
  • Previous experience using and managing cloud-based finance system for SME’s (Xero is preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, CA qualification is preferred.


Key deliverables for you will be:

  • Quickly understand the role, take over key areas of responsibility and deliverables from the CFO, and lead a small team in delivering operational finance.
  • Monthly reporting for Board and Leadership requirements.
  • Manage the consolidation accounting for the group.
  • Delivering balance sheet integrity with a regular process of reconciliations.
  • Cashflow management and weekly forecasting.
  • Manage group taxation and external audit processes.
  • Take ownership to review and implement “best practice” and tailored methods across the group.
