An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join our Studio Services Team in our Melbourne Office.

The Role

Based in Melbourne and reporting to our Practice Manager, the Financial Controller will drive a team of three to ensure the accurate and timely operation of the finance function of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all financial activities including management of the team deliverables around financial reporting and control.
  • Working with our payroll partner to ensure team members are paid accurately and on time.
  • Management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management.
  • Management of relationships with internal stakeholders, external accountants, banks and financiers, insurers, and other suppliers.
  • Identification of opportunities to improve existing processes and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Financial input into bids, tendering, contracts and variations including fee and profit benchmarking.
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register.
  • Financial compliance with relevant government bodies covering GST, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and Workcover.
  • Management of finance components of data migration to new practice management system.
  • Coordination and management of audit and effective tracking of financial components required for B Corp recertification and carbon neutral status.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Formal Accounting qualification (CA or CPA).
  • 8+ years’ experience in the accounting or finance space.
  • An understanding of professional services firms/construction industry preferred, but not essential.
  • Excellent technical knowledge, and application of financial and management. accounting standards, principles and practices.
  • Ability to engage, develop relationships, and lead team members.
  • Exemplary attention to detail. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
