With over 60,000 visitors annually, the Diamantina Shire in Outback Queensland is 95,000 square kilometres in area and the second largest shire in Queensland. There are three towns within the shire, Birdsville, Betoota and Bedourie: the administrative centre.

Applications are invited from suitably experienced candidates for the position of Finance Coordinator. We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person with an inquisitive mind to be responsible for the the day to day supervision and coordination of the Finance & Procurement functions of Council. This role will also include providing financial advice and support throughout the organisation in the areas of budget preparation and review as well as monthly and annual financial reporting and analysis

An expert knowledge of accounting practices including accounts payable, cash receipting, procurement and banking procedures is desirable. 

Formal qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Adminstration would be highly regarded. A minimum of 3 year’s experience in a similar role in a large organisation undertaking a similar role is required, experience using financial modules in Synergy Soft or ability to learn will be an advantage. 

This is a permanent fulltime position with a competitive remuneration package ($88,600 to $92,300 depending on experience and allowances), which includes above award wages. 

You will be entitled to six weeks annual leave and a comfortable home will be available for rent in Bedourie at subsidised rent.
