About the role
A great opportunity to join the Santos finance team in a fast-paced dynamic environment is now available. We are now recruiting for Financial Analyst – Group Financial Reporting. Reporting to the Financial Controller – Financial Reporting the role is responsible for assisting the Group Financial Reporting team in meeting the Group’s obligations relating to internal management reporting, external financial statutory reporting and ASX financial reporting.

Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of full-year and half-year Group Financial Statements
  • Preparing, analysing and reviewing note disclosures to the financial statements as allocated 
  • Critically analysing and investigating accounting issues in group reporting as requested
  • Assisting with the preparation of memos and information requests for areas across the business pertaining to accounting for Group transactions
  • Identification of potential lease contracts and preparing a preliminary assessment under AASB 16 Leases for all identified contracts, including detailed policy memos for the more complex/material transactions
  • Maintaining the leases model, prepare all lease related month end journal entries
  • Being responsible for compiling AASB 16 related disclosures in the Annual Report, half year accounts and subsidiary accounts
  • Assist with other Group month end accounting activities as allocated
  • Maintain/develop an up to date awareness across Australian Accounting Standards
  • Assist with developing training for the broader finance function

About you
The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary/degree qualifications in Accounting or Commence including CA, CPA or equivalent. You will bring professional experience in Accounting with a Chartered Accounting firm or accounting section of a large corporate organisation, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry. Imperative to your success will be a strong working knowledge of Accounting Standards, proven experience in report writing and sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suit. Experience using SAP will be highly advantageous.

This position will suit a proactive, results driven professional who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with stakeholders.
