The Gig

The Director of Revenue Management is responsible for all forecasting functions, rate and inventory management across all distribution channels. 

This position directs the hotel revenue team (Revenue Manager & Reservation Agent) and develops action steps to improve REVPAR performance. Executes and oversees hotel strategies to ensure STR index gains that meet the Company objectives. Reviews and recommends rooms and catering strategies including pricing, inventory, and channel management, in order to achieve budgeted revenues and maximize market share. Ensures proper mix of business through the use of market data, historical information, inventory controls and pricing strategies. Reviews and approves displacement analysis with property revenue teams. Develops and implements property-specific action plans as necessary to address performance deficiencies. Maintains keen awareness and oversight of online distribution through updated and effective e-commerce initiatives and liaising with the Sales and Marketing Teams.

The Director of Revenue Management has a dotted line to both General Managers and Corporate Head of Revenue. 


Work Details:

  • Optimizes room revenue through a thorough understanding of all booking channels and management of inventory and rates within.
  • Completes all forecasting, accurately projecting demand and pick up for group and transient. When necessary, participates in the annual budgeting process with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Reviews competitive set pricing, yield strategies, and analysis of the market and its opportunities.
  • Reviews STR data and develop strategies to improve performance.
  • Conducts weekly strategy meeting and presents weekly agenda items. Decisions are recorded, distributed and discussed at subsequent meetings to ensure action is taken.
  • Reviews pace data and distribute according to the needs of the hotels
  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation of analytical reports for hotels and corporate support distribution
  • Develops strategies to improve performance on all distribution channels
  • Utilises weekly reporting scorecards to communicate results to the executive team
  • Ensures channel management tool is updated and optimized
  • Learns marketing dynamics and provides feedback and recommendations to the marketing team for campaigns, packages and special promotions
  • Manages the OTA relationships (communicates changes and special promotions to the Market Manager).
  • Reviews market mix on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to ensure optimal mix
  • Reviews gap analysis on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as comparison to forecast and budget
  • Works with the Sales and Marketing teams to effectively communicate and encourage strategic selection of the right piece of businesses in keeping with the Hotel guidelines
  • Maintains accurate tracking related to market segments, pace, forecasts and other rooms’ revenue data.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Revenue Management experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of CRS, RMS, and PMS systems.
  • Digital Marketing understanding would be useful.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel related programs.
  • Ability to influence with strong communications and presentation of data and strategies
  • Possess knowledge of accounts and budgeting along with the ability to compile facts/figures and analyze information that involves data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify issues and exercise initiative to investigate, interpret and weigh alternatives to reach logical conclusions and make sound business decisions.
