Accountant in Simpson Farms at Financial Accounting & Reporting

About the Role

We are seeking a Degree /Diploma qualified Accountant with experience in Agriculture / Horticulture. The successful candidates will be assisting the CFO in managing all accounting activities including reporting. 

Simpson Farms has three plantations in the Childers / Cordalba area, a large, sophisticated Avocado and Mango packing shed as well as a Processing plant in Bundaberg.

Key accountabilities:

• Manage Debtors / Creditors 
• Managing all farm and facility leasing contracts 
• Bank Reconciliation 
• Managing company credit cards 
• Provision of financial and management accounting and financial reporting to the company, including Managers and Board
• Responsible for lodgement of compliance requirements (BAS, Super FBT, Payroll)
• Maintain the integrity of the financial accounting system and chart of accounts
• Assist with annual audit 
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports for Management, Board and Committees
• Assist with budget and forecasting activities

 Your Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate has minimum two years’ experience in a similar role. You’ll be equipped with relevant qualifications and have an extensive knowledge of current legislations and codes of practice.

A great communicator who can work well with people of all backgrounds, to be considered for the role, it’s important you can address the following:

• Degree qualified or relevant industry experience
• Ability to work autonomously and within in team environment
• Strong analytical skills with ability to work autonomously and in a team environment to meet deadlines.
• Assisting in ad-hoc project work as required.
• Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and well organised
• Computer skills including Microsoft suite
• Advanced Excel
