GTE is an engineering firm specialising in the areas of control systems, electrical engineering, industrial communications, and functional safety in the mining and industrial sectors. To support our strong pipeline of work we currently have an opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience to join our expanding team.

Reporting to the Lead Control Systems Engineer, this position will take a junior role in the design, development, implementation and commissioning of high-quality engineering solutions that meet or exceed client requirements with a particular focus on Allen-Bradley PLC Systems and Citect SCADA.

This role would suit an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is versatile and open to stepping out of your comfort zone. Being a quick thinker with high attention to detail and the ability to multi–task is paramount for this position.
  
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Report to Lead Control Systems Engineer on time and progress on all works.
  • Perform engineering design and related duties, including, control system software development (PLC & SCADA), equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, schematic and wiring design and testing of software by working with other team members.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, on budget, on schedule and safely.
  • Ensure project risks are identified and managed to client’s satisfaction.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute key project documents to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform client interfacing and support and act on opportunities to grow the business through customer relationship management and high-quality project deliver.
  • Ensure site activities are conducted in accordance with client and government regulations, procedures and policies.
  • Manage time effectively to meet client and Company requirements.
  • Ensure current technical standards, reference materials, software programs and tools are in place as necessary for the use of project engineering and technical disciplines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the mining industry
  • Strong technical skills with PLC and SCADA systems
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer Science
