About the role:
As the Environmental and Sustainability Supervisor for JBS Brooklyn, you will be accountable for leading the site based environmental programs, while ensuring compliance with all site-based regulatory and organisational requirements. You will be integrated into the site operational and engineering teams and supported by the Southern Group Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Manager and the Sustainability Project Managers is investing significantly to achieve its sustainability targets of 15% reduction in water intensity and 12% reduction in emissions by 2025.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Lead the environmental sustainability program at the Brooklyn site, initiating, tracking, analysing and promoting site-based programs/efforts to reduce water, waste, energy and GHG emissions whilst optimising the cost effectiveness of the overall environmental program
- Lead and manage the sites Environmental Operations team consisting of 4 operators responsible for the operation of the Waste Water Treatment plant
- Maintain and continuously improve the environmental management systems and programs
- Monitoring and evaluation of environmental risk and environmental performance projects and drive bench marking activities
- Identify and action opportunities for improvement against the sustainability pillars
- Promote a culture of sustainable development and improvements with particular focus on water consumption and treatment
- Maintain records, prepare statistics, write reports and investigate complaints
- Auditing and compliance management will also be an essential part of the role
- Provide technical advice and practical solutions for effective environmental management to all JBS sites
- Coach, train and advise colleagues on environmental management procedures
About you:
- At least 3-5years professional experience in similar position
- Sound understanding of regulatory framework related to environment science and related discipline
- Manufacturing or Agriculture industry experience preferred but not essential
- Industrial wastewater knowledge
- Experience leading a team is highly desirable
- Demonstrated report writing and analytical skills
- Able to build rapport and credibility quickly by demonstrating value with a hands-on approach
- Strong communicator with excellent listening and interaction skills and sound judgment, problem solving ability; capable of understanding the impact of decision making on the business
- Ability to work well to deadlines and under pressure and prioritise tasks and be able to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously
