Successful family-owned Melbourne based Civil Construction company specialising in a diverse range of civil, infrastructure, water, environment and landscape projects. There clients include authorities, local government, defence, water utilities, power utilities and other government bodies that support the community.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, the General Manager joins the management team in a key role. Responsibilities include managing supply agreements for the Electrical Estimating division, this includes monitoring projects and profit margins, maintaining BOQ’s and approving estimates, while fostering positive relationships with both internal & external stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading the electrical team through the performance and delivery of successful tender bids and client-negotiations
- Plan, coordinate and manage the preparation of bids within the framework of assessing agreed risk management and budgetary requirements
- Ensure securing sufficient work ($300M – $400M p.a.) to maintain business turnover and continuity for the construction operations
- Oversee the preparation of tender submissions to meet client requirements and business objectives
- Review incoming tenders and assess suitability to proceed
- Build relationships with key clients and stakeholders
Ideally you will have:
- Proven management experience in Design and Construct projects, with an emphasis in delivery sound electrical solutions within the Defence and Water sectors
- Ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, while having broad industry knowledge with Electrical switchboards, control circuits, valve operations, motor control circuits etc
- Leadership qualities and a genuine desire to coach and develop staff at all levels
