How will I help?

You will participate in independent reviews of control frameworks, systems, policies and procedures, and deep dives across the Westpac Group and identify areas for remediation and opportunities for enhancement. You will perform quarterly reporting that forms the basis of key messages to the Board Audit Committee. You will build valuable working relations across this division and the Group, collaborating as one team with other Group Audit teams.  
You will support and participate in initiatives to continuously improve the way we work by using and embedding data analytics, automation and visualisation into our review portfolio, audit approach and the processes of the broader the Group Audit team. 

Major accountabilities:
• Execute audit planning, including the identification of processes, risks and controls for testing.
• Execute audit fieldwork:
– Test the design and operating effectiveness of controls, 
– Identify and document audit issues, including performing a significance analysis and agreeing management action plans.   
– Collaborate within own home team and with Group Audit subject matter experts in credit, technology and risk and compliance.
• Assist in the reporting stages of the audit engagement, including preparing and discussing audit reports with management. These audit reports form the basis of the messages reported to the Westpac Group Board Audit Committee on a quarterly basis. 
• Continuously monitor Business Division Lines of Business developments, activities, issue management, emerging risks or concerns.
• Participate in home team and Group Audit initiatives and continuous improvement initiatives.

What do I need?

We are looking for someone who ideally has the following knowledge and experience:
• Undergraduate degree. Degrees in Accounting / Finance or equivalent fields are desirable
• At least 4-5 years external and/or internal audit experience or experience in wealth/funds/ banking processes with risk/audit exposure
• Data Analytics (particularly data transformation, modelling, visualisation and automation) skills are highly desirable – and if not – an awareness or desire to learn is a must.
• Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) or Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) is desirable.
• Experience in financial services is desirable but not compulsory.
• Strong communication & relationship skills.
