Nurse Unit Manager – Day Surgery / Pre-admission Clinic

 

An exciting opportunity for an experience Registered Nurse to join the Day Surgery / Pre-admission Clinic at Wollongong Private Hospital.

 

About the Role

As the Nurse Unit Manager of the Day Surgery Pre-admission Clinic, you will oversee the clinical assessment, education and pre-admission planning of patients admitted to day surgery. You will demonstrate and lead others in the delivery of excellent patient care, documentation, customer service and effective communication Your commitment, knowledge, experience and leadership of safety and quality in the perioperative environment is essential.

The role encompasses planning, implementing, and evaluating practices, processes, and services within the department to ensure improved patient outcomes. The role requires working with and supporting other managers in achieving excellence in care delivery in line with best practice and legislative requirements. The position is accountable for the efficient and effective management of staff within the department.

You will work closely with the Executive team and report directly to the Director of Clinical Services.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong clinical skillset in a hospital setting as either a Clinical /Nursing Manager in a similar department or as a senior nurse wanting to step into a management role. You will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and mentor your team. You will be a leader with a passion for seeing your team members succeed and grow while bringing a passion for a high level of client care and service.

 

You will also bring:

  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum five (5) years’ post graduate experience in clinical setting
  • At least three (3) years’ experience within pre-admissions or patient assessment is essential
  • Experience or exposure to managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering and performance management
  • Previous experience as a senior nurse or manager will be highly regarded
  • The ability to monitor and evaluate patient care delivery
  • Strong leadership skills and confident with delegating duties
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
