Victoria’s new public Correctional Centre is approaching completion and now is the time to apply for ongoing jobs that will help shape the future operations of the facility.
Employees working in the initial stage of operations will contribute to the foundations of the new facility by participating in the development of operating processes, services and procedures. In addition, they will be part of a multi-disciplinary team committed to building a culture of continuous improvement in the workplace.

Prison Supervisors at the new correctional centre have a unique opportunity to be part of the start-up team. Supervisors have a range of portfolios that they oversee including prison intelligence, prisoner accommodation, safety and security, health care, visitors and control room procedures. Their contribution, prior to the facility becoming fully operational, will be part of shaping the ongoing management of all portfolio areas. They will provide valuable insights and ideas on how the facility can operate efficiently, maximising positive outcomes for employees working at the facility and the prisoners in their care.
In the long-term, Prison Supervisors lead the portfolio operations and coordination of the daily activities of at the Western Plains Correctional Centre. They oversee the flow of staff movements, security processes and prisoner management. They know everything about facility procedures and are positive role models for their team and the prisoners in their care. They lead staff in conducting searches and are good at observing and assessing prisoner behaviour. They also operate security equipment, write reports and manage critical incidents when needed.
Prison Supervisors are always on the lookout for ways to improve facility security, operations and service delivery. And they take action when needed, working collaboratively with the management team to develop strategic solutions and see them through to implementation. They model a positive work culture, support innovation and respect diversity in the workforce.
Your skills and experience
Prison Supervisor applicants with experience in human services, case management, criminal justice or leadership who are new to the Victorian corrections environment, will be provided with an individualised learning pathway to ensure completion of Pre-Service Training and the development of prison-related capability.
