In the long term, Senior Prison Officers coordinate and support the day-to-day functional activities of a team of Prison Officers. They actively participate in the performance and development process, recognising individual strengths and attributes in others and promoting an inclusive and cohesive team environment.

Senior Prison Officers are client-focused and understand how each service area contributes to the overall goal of a safe and rehabilitative, prisoner centric operating model. Senior Prison Officers are great communicators and can relate well to all types of people, motivating others to achieve success. They thrive in dynamic and fast-paced environments and maintain the security of their area. Senior Prison Officers are case management champions, promoting individualised goal setting and positive interactions between staff and prisoners that supports behavioural change.
